Author and most creative soul I know, Michael Arguello

While this selecting is not written by a woman, as is typical for our Author’s Page, it is with great honor that Being Jane awards this book series our 'Author of the Year'.

Micheal Arguello, aka Uncle Funkelbright, 2000 lbs of Words, Big Mike, Mr. Mom has recently released his series of glow in the dark children’s books that can be read in the dark.  Truly original, they are written and illustrated by Michael and have been for the past decade, second only to his two boys, his most passionate labor of love.

Much of my past decade was spent with my dear friend, Michael, as he nurtured this Jane back to emotional health through time, music, laughter and generosity of Soul.  Not to mention our many hours during our Blue Periods making silly drawings, writing stories and discussing our dreams. Out of those sessions came the births of Uncle Funkelbright Books and Being Jane.

So, I honor Michael, his work and the notion that Creativity is often a sum greater than its parts.  Through my friendship with Michael, we both planted seeds which we independently watered and years later watched them bloom.

With that in mind, I offer you the invitation to think about how to spawn your own creativity in 2007 through friendship, workgroups, lessons, travel, etc.  Your seeds may reveal themselves in most unlikely places – perhaps like mine and Michael’s, listening to Blues over Black-n-Blue steaks and Cabernet.
